American Horse School is located in Allen, SD on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Allen is a small community of about 465 people. Our community has a Head Start, School Post Office, Cap Office, Elderly Center, OLC college center and gas/convenience store. Allen is 20 minutes from Martin SD, 1 hour from Gordon, NE and 2 hours from Rapid City SD.

Our students and community members are primarily Oglala Lakota. American Horse School serves three reservation districts. Our staff is composed of local Oglala Sioux Tribal members, non-members, individual’s from across the US and even some from overseas.

American Horse School requires a pre-employment background check/UA for all who apply. Applicants must have a high school diploma or working towards receiving it or GED, also a Driver’s License is preferred.
